Common areas

All residents are responsible for cleaning common areas, such as:

  • entrances
  • stairs
  • banisters
  • windows
  • ledges
  • bin areas

Cleaning should take place regularly. If you are unsure about the frequency or responsibility for cleaning then our local housing officers can advise you.

Unless you are paying us a service charge to maintain common areas you must take your turn at cleaning shared areas.

We may arrange for the work to be done if you fail to keep common areas in a clean and tidy condition. We will pass this cost on to you and the other tenants. Not maintaining common areas is breaking your tenancy agreement with us.

Bicycles, prams, motorcycles and rubbish should not be stored in common areas or stairs. These can be a danger in the event of a fire.
