Parks and Open Spaces in the Marr Area
The numerous parks, playing fields and open spaces in Marr include:
Alford
Pleasure Park which includes a bowling green, dry ski slope, skateboard park, a variety of play equipment football pitches and a pavilion,
Haughton Country Park experienced significant damage in the recent storms. Please take care when visiting this site, and see our path closures page for updates and advice.
Includes a pond area, play equipment, dog exercise area and a trim track exercise area beside the river Don, walks are available through Haughton park and into Murray Park opposite.

Huntly
Cooper park has a seasonal tearoom and toilets, putting green and multi purpose courts, with tennis and basketball markings. Golf clubs and balls are available for hire from the tea room. There is ample parking and traditional play equipment.
Glamourhaugh has a steep embankment slide, and a range of more traditional items
Castle park has a range of play equipment for all age groups with a large multi-play unit and more traditional items.
The Nordic ski and Outdoor centre beside the river Deveron is well served with picnic tables and barbecue stands. The play park consists of a skateboard ramp and a variety of play equipment while the outdoor centre, which is open daily during the summer, comprises rollerblade tracks, dry ski slope and tarmac roller ski track. The centre hires out tubes, mountain bikes, skate skis and other equipment as well as offering advice and tutorage.
Lumsden
Pleasure Park is in the main street in the village, the football pitch at the top end of the park is surrounded by a tall fence and separate from the play area. The play area is enclosed by a small fence. The park is located near the sculpture walk and workshop as well as being conveniently close to the shop.
Rhynie
Pleasure Park is behind the church off the square, opposite the primary school. It is enclosed by a fence next to a floodlit football pitch and is well served with seating and picnic tables. It is a short walk from the Moss Wood area, which includes a trim trail. There is ample off street parking nearby and it’s a short walk to the shop, public toilets and the delightfully named local tea room “fancy pieces”.
Clatt
Pleasure Park is behind the village hall, the village is served with a large public park with a well used football pitch and a very well equipped play area. The play park incorporates an aerial slide and talking tubes as well as more standard items. The village hall has a tea room open at weekends during the summer.
Kennethmont
Play area is beside the primary school and consists of a small, fenced off area for toddlers with a climbing frame/multi-play unit as well as swings and a roundabout and springies. There is also a football pitch.
Forgue
Recreation park has a football pitch, changing facilities and toilets and a play area with a variety of equipment
Monymusk
Sir Francis Grant’s memorial garden hides behind the church in the main square. It consists of a football practice park and a good variety of playground equipment and picnic tables, surrounded by mature trees. There is ample parking nearby
