Education Scotland praises St Cyrus School and Nursery Class
St Cyrus School and Nursery Class has been praised by Education Scotland following a recent inspection.
Inspectors highlighted the school’s inclusive environment, strong leadership and pupils’ enthusiasm for learning.
Inspectors said: “Across the school and nursery, children are polite, respectful and keen to learn. They consistently demonstrate the school values and are very proud of their school.”
They commended the leadership, saying: “The headteacher provides strong, strategic and compassionate leadership. She has created a climate where everyone works well together for the benefit of children and families. All staff are keen to develop their skills to help improve children’s experiences.”
Children’s wellbeing was noted as a particular strength, with praise going to staff for having “created a calm, nurturing and inclusive environment. They know the children and families well and have built strong relationships across the school and nursery community.”
Inspectors also highlighted that “children in the school, confidently reflect on and talk about their learning. This is supporting them well to know themselves as learners.”
Education Scotland’s evaluations rated ensuring wellbeing, equality and inclusion as ‘very good’ for both the primary and nursery stages, with leadership of change, learning, teaching and assessment, and raising attainment and achievement all rated ‘good’.
