Education Scotland praises King Edward School
King Edward Primary School has been praised by Education Scotland following a recent inspection.
Inspectors highlighted the school’s nurturing ethos, strong leadership and high-quality learning experiences.
The report said: “The highly respected headteacher knows the school’s strengths and areas for development very well. She is supported effectively by the staff team. Together they are improving learning and teaching and children’s experiences. This is helping all children to make good progress in learning and achievements.”
They noted that staff have highly nurturing, trusting and inclusive relationships with children and families, and meet children’s wellbeing and learning needs very well. This results in children who are motivated and engage in learning.
The inspection praised the breadth of learning opportunities, saying: “Staff provide children with a wide range of experiences to develop well their skills for learning, life and work. These include outdoor learning, pupil leadership roles and through science, technology, engineering and mathematics challenges.
“All children have a very good understanding of a range of skills which include critical thinking and adapting. This is supporting them well to become responsible citizens and contribute effectively to the life of the school and community.”
Education Scotland rated learning, teaching and assessment and ensuring wellbeing, equality and inclusion as ‘very good’, with leadership of change and raising attainment and achievement both graded ‘good’.
