Strathburn School and Nursery rated 'good' in latest inspection

Strathburn School and Nursery Class has been rated ‘good’ across all key areas in its latest Education Scotland inspection.

Inspectors visited the school and nursery in May, speaking to parents, carers and children, and working closely with the headteacher and staff. 

The inspection team highlighted several key strengths:
• Children across the school, enhanced provision and nursery are kind, caring and welcoming. They are motivated and enthusiastic to learn and proud of their school community.
• Staff and children enjoy positive relationships underpinned by strong school values, creating highly inclusive and nurturing environments.
• A calm and supportive learning environment helps children settle and engage with their learning.
• Staff have placed a strong emphasis on promoting reading for pleasure, helping to improve children’s reading skills.

Education Scotland also identified areas for continued improvement, including developing more consistent quality feedback for pupils, simplifying planning and tracking processes, and further enhancing learning and teaching with a focus on pace, challenge and high-quality learning through play.

The inspection team evaluated the school’s work as follows:
Primary School:

• Raising attainment and achievement: Good

Nursery Class:
• Learning, teaching and assessment: Good
• Securing children’s progress: Good
