Consultation on closure of Tullynessle School
Aberdeenshire Council has launched a consultation on the closure of Tullynessle School. It runs until October 31.
An online survey is available as part of the consultation - click here.
A public meeting will be held at Tullynessle and Forbes Hall on Monday, September 29 at 6pm.
In May 2024, a decision was made to mothball Tullynessle School from August 2024.
Mothballing is the temporary closure of a school which does not, in itself, lead to statutory consultation.
Since October 2024, intensive engagement has been carried out with the wider Tullynessle School community.
At its meeting of May 2025, Education and Children’s Services Committee approved the launch of a statutory consultation on the permanent closure of Tullynessle School.
Aberdeenshire Council is proposing to discontinue education at Tullynessle School, which is currently mothballed, and re-assigning its catchment area to either Alford Primary School or Keig School.
