Gourdon Primary praised following HMIE inspection
Gourdon Primary School has been recognised for its high-quality learning and positive leadership following a recent inspection by His Majesty’s Inspectorate of Education (HMIE).
Inspectors visited the school in March, engaging with pupils, parents, staff and leadership. Their findings highlight a number of key strengths contributing to a positive and inclusive learning environment.
The report commends the impact of change led by the acting headteacher and staff, noting a strong and shared culture of continuous improvement across the school. Inspectors also recognised the consistently high-quality learning experiences delivered by teachers, with pupils fully engaged in their education and clear about their learning goals.
Strong relationships across the school were highlighted as a significant strength, with children benefiting from warm, nurturing and inclusive environments that support their wellbeing. Pupils were described as kind, respectful and articulate, demonstrating pride in their school and its values.
In its evaluation, HMIE rated Gourdon Primary School as:

The inspection also identified areas for further development, including opportunities for pupils to play a greater role in evaluating the work of the school, strengthening assessment approaches, and enhancing curriculum relevance.
