Road closures for explorr festival

Live Life Aberdeenshire is delighted to be supporting this week’s explorr outdoor endurance festival in Banchory.

Running from tomorrow (Fri) to Sunday, August 30, it’s centred around gravel cycling and gravel running, with lots of live music, talks, films, street food and a great community atmosphere.

There are already around 1,000 participants signed up to the event and it promises to be a tremendous day in the Deeside town.

Please note there are a number of road closures and restrictions in Banchory throughout the festival, so please familiarise yourself with them before you head into town.

Road Closure - C36k Falls of Feugh, Banchory from Junction with B974 to Bridge of Feugh Car Park commencing Saturday 29th August 2026 for 2 days Temporary Restriction Timings: Saturday 29th August 2026 09:30 – 10:30; Sunday 30th August 2026 09:30 – 11:30

 

 

Road Closure - U53k near Falls of Feugh, Banchory from Junction with C36k to Houses next to Waters of Feugh on U52k commencing Saturday 29th August 2026 at 09:30 to 10:45. Temporary Obstruction of approximately 15-minute delays at closure points, once event traffic passes road will reopen.

 

 

Road Closure - King George V Park Access Road, Banchory from Dee Street to entrance for Coach End commencing Friday 28th August 2026 at 22:00 to 06:00 Monday 31st August. Diversion Dee Street, Station Road, Access Road for King George V Park and vice versa.

 

 

Road Closure - Ur239 Blackhall Road, Banchory from junction with Auchattie Road to Riverside, Blackhall commencing Sunday 30th August 2026 at 09:00 to 18:00 for 1 day. The road will be opened as soon as runners have cleared the route. No Diversion Available - Local Access Only

 

 

One-Way System - U140k Auchattie Road, Banchory Westbound along the entire length commencing Saturday 29th August 2026 at 18:00 for 2 days. Saturday 29th August 2026 from 18:00 to 24:00 Sunday 30th August 2026 from 09:00 to 19:00

 

 

Road Closure - Dee Street, Banchory from Banchory Recreation Grounds, B974 to junction with C36k near Bridge of Feugh commencing Saturday 29th August 2026. Section A: 07:00 to 11:00 (Cycle Race Start) then 13:00 to 20:00 (Cycle Race Return) Section B: 09:30 to 11:00 (Cycle Race Start until all bikes are past the Feugh) Diversion B974, C36k, A957, Crathes, A93, North Deeside Road, Station Road, Dee Street and vice versa.
