ISC pays tribute to council staff and Aberdeenshire communities

During the January meeting of the council’s Infrastructure Services Committee, chair Cllr Alan Turner thanked staff for their incredible efforts during last month’s heavy snowfall and challenging winter weather.

Cllr Alan Turner said: “On behalf of Aberdeenshire Council, I would like to extend my deepest gratitude to every single person who has worked so tirelessly throughout one of the most challenging weather events our communities have seen in many years.

“Since the start of this year we’ve faced heavy snowfall, travel disruption followed by widespread flooding and significant impacts on essential services such as waste collections and community connectivity. Roads were blocked, communities were cut off and many of us experienced firsthand just how difficult life became under these conditions.

“To all our Environment and Infrastructure staff – from gritter and snowplough drivers to roads and landscape crews, waste collection and household recycling teams to everyone who was redeployed from their day-to-day roles – I offer my heartfelt thanks.

“You have worked extraordinary hours, stepped into unfamiliar roles and consistently gone above and beyond to keep people safe, clear critical roads, support our most vulnerable residents and keep essential services running wherever possible. Your dedication, professionalism and sheer hard work has been nothing short of inspiring."
