Aberdeenshire IJB welcomes positive Annual Performance Report highlighting progress across Health and Social Care
The Aberdeenshire Integration Joint Board (IJB) today approved the Aberdeenshire Health and Social Care Partnership (AHSCP) Annual Performance Report for 2025/26, recognising significant progress across a wide range of services despite continued financial, workforce and demand pressures.
The report demonstrates how the Partnership has continued to improve outcomes for people across Aberdeenshire while maintaining a strong focus on prevention, independence and community-based support.
The Annual Performance Report highlights significant progress across health and social care services in Aberdeenshire. During 2025/26, the Partnership supported 1,623 unpaid carers, delivered £19 million in savings while protecting frontline services, completing the transition of all community telecare alarms to digital technology, and engaging thousands of residents in shaping future services.
The report also shows growing demand for preventative support and 480 people receiving support through the Distress Brief Intervention service, demonstrating the continued importance of community-based mental health and wellbeing services.
The report highlights achievements across the Partnership's strategic priorities, including extensive engagement with communities, investment in prevention and early intervention, the development of new community-based models of care, support for unpaid carers, improvements in technology-enabled care, and strengthened financial management.
Among the year's achievements were the launch of the Stonehaven Independent Living Hub, and the development of a new community-based dementia support model in South Aberdeenshire.
Both of which highlight the significant work underway to shape a health and social care system that is fit for the future.
By embracing innovation and technology, and redesigning services around the needs of local communities, the Partnership is creating a more sustainable model of care.
This approach will help ensure that people continue to receive the right support, in the right place, at the right time, while supporting the AHSCP to respond to increasing demand and financial pressures in the years ahead.
Chair of the Aberdeenshire IJB, Cllr Anne Stirling, said: "This report demonstrates the dedication, professionalism and compassion of our staff and partners who continue to provide high-quality health and social care services across Aberdeenshire in increasingly challenging circumstances.
"While we know there is still much to do, we should take confidence from the progress made over the last year. From supporting people to live independently at home for longer, to strengthening support for unpaid carers, investing in prevention and embracing innovation, this report shows a Partnership that is committed to improving outcomes for the people we serve."
Vice-Chair of the Aberdeenshire IJB, Dr John Tomlinson, said: "One of the clearest messages from this report is that prevention and early intervention is not only the right thing to do for individuals and families, but also essential to creating a sustainable health and social care system for the future.
"Whether it's supporting unpaid carers, helping people access mental health support quickly, investing in technology that enables independent living or developing new community-based models of care, we are seeing the benefits of helping people earlier and closer to home. These initiatives improve outcomes for people while making the best possible use of public resources.”
Chief Officer Leigh Jolly said: "This report reflects the extraordinary efforts of staff, carers, volunteers, commissioned providers and partners who work every day to make a positive difference to people's lives.
"I would like to thank everyone across the Partnership and our third sector partners for their commitment, resilience and professionalism throughout the year. Despite significant pressures, our teams have continued to deliver safe, compassionate and person-centred care while driving forward important improvements that will help ensure services remain sustainable for the future.
"We know that challenges remain, but the progress outlined in this report gives us a strong foundation as we take forward our Strategic Plan for 2025–2035 and continue working together to help people live long, healthy lives."
The Annual Performance Report covers the period from 1 April 2025 to 31 March 2026 and sets out how the Partnership has delivered health and social care services across Aberdeenshire, alongside progress against national health and wellbeing outcomes and local strategic priorities
