Sale of former Westbank Care Home agreed

The sale of the former Westbank Care Home in Oldmeldrum has been agreed by councillors. 

The Formartine Area Committee considered bids for the site, at Lower Cowgate, at its latest meeting on Tuesday (Jun 9). 

The successful bidder has indicated their intention to reopen the building as a care facility, and any future use would be subject to obtaining the necessary consents.  

The three-storey property, which closed in 2024, has 35 bedrooms and associated facilities. 

Chair of the Formartine Area Committee Cllr Iain Taylor said: “It is reassuring to be in a position to support steps which we hope will see this facility moved into the private care sector. 

“I am hopeful residents of Oldmeldrum and nearby will be pleased with this news and we all look forward to watching it be redeveloped.”
