Candidates for Peterhead South and Cruden by-election confirmed

The candidates for the Peterhead South and Cruden by-election, which is due to take place on Thursday, July 2, have been confirmed. 

Aberdeenshire Council has published the Notice of Poll for the by-election, confirming candidates, polling places, and election agents. 

The candidates are as follows:

•    Dave Bestwick, Scottish Family Party – Putting Families First
•    Andy Curwen, Reform UK
•    Ross Gibb, Scottish Conservative and Unionist
•    Angus Matheson, Scottish National Party (SNP)
•    John Ross, Independent
•    Ross Thomson, Independent
•    Tony Ware, Scottish Liberal Democrats

Residents of the Peterhead South and Cruden area can register to vote by 11.59pm on Tuesday, June 16. Postal vote applications must be made by 5pm on Wednesday, June 17, and applications for proxy votes by 5pm on Wednesday, June 24. 

Polling stations will be open from 7am and 10pm on Thursday, July 2, as follows: 

•    Clerkhill School Nursery, Cairntrodlie, Peterhead
•    Meethill School Nursery, School Road, Peterhead
•    Boddam Public Hall, Church Place, Boddam
•    Longhaven Hall, Longhaven
•    Hatton Public Hall, Station Road, Hatton
•    Port Errol Public Hall, Serald Street, Cruden Bay

The election count will take place on Friday, July 3.
