Ready2Go privacy notice

The Aberdeenshire Council are committed to protecting your personal data and respecting your privacy. This policy (together with our end-user licence agreement as set out (EULA) and any additional terms of use incorporated by reference into the EULA, together our Terms of Use) applies to your use of:

  • Ready2Go mobile application software (App) hosted on the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store, and, once you have downloaded a copy of the App onto your mobile telephone or handheld device (Device).
  • Any of the services accessible through the App (Services) that are available on the App Site or other sites of ours (Services Sites), unless the EULA states that a separate privacy policy applies to a particular Service, in which case that privacy policy only applies. This policy sets out the basis on which any personal data we collect from you, or that you provide to us, will be processed by us. This App is not intended for children and we do not knowingly collect data relating to children. Please read the following carefully to understand our practices regarding your personal data and how we will treat it.

We keep our privacy policy under regular review. This version was last updated on 10 June 2021. It may change and if it does, these changes will be posted on this page and, where appropriate, notified to you when you next start the App. The new policy may be displayed on-screen and you may be required to read and accept the changes to continue your use of the App or the Services.

It is important that the personal data we hold about you is accurate and current. Please keep us informed if your personal data changes during our relationship with you.

The data we collect about you

We may collect, use, store and transfer different kinds of personal data about you as follows:

  • Identity Data: includes first name, last name and user ID (a system generated unique identifier).
  • Contact Data: includes email address and telephone number.
  • Transaction Data: includes details of transport requests and transport usage.
  • Device Data includes the type of mobile device you use, Android ID (if Android device), device properties (device type, operating system, device data such as screen resolution), language, IP address, Metro ID and Advertising ID.
  • Profile Data: includes in-App transport history, your interests, preferences and feedback and survey responses.
  • Usage Data: includes details of your use of the App or your visits to any of Our Sites including, but not limited to, traffic data and other communication data.
  • Location Data: includes your current location disclosed by GPS technology.

How we use your personal data

We will only use your personal data when the law allows us to do so. Most commonly we will use your personal data in the following circumstances:

  • Where you have consented before the processing.
  • Where it is necessary for our legitimate interests (or those of a third party), public interest and your interests and fundamental rights do not override those interests.
  • Where we need to comply with a legal or regulatory obligation.

Purposes for which we will use your personal data

How is your personal data collected

  • Information you give us. This is information (including Identity, Contact) you consent to giving us about you by filling in forms on the App Site and the Services Sites (together Our Sites), or by corresponding with us (for example, by email/feedback form or chat). It includes information you provide when you register to use the App Site, download or register an App, subscribe to any of our Services, search for an App or Service, and when you report a problem with an App, our Services, or any of Our Sites. If you contact us, we will keep a record of that correspondence.
  • Information we collect about you and your device. Each time you visit one of Our Sites or use one of our Apps we will automatically collect personal data including Device, Content and Usage Data. We collect this data using technologies similar to cookies. If you visit the Aberdeenshire Council website we will collect data using cookies. Please see our cookie policy for further details.
  • Location Data. We also use GPS technology to determine your current location. Some of our location-enabled Services require your personal data for the feature to work. If you wish to use the particular feature, you will be asked to consent to your data being used for this purpose. You can withdraw your consent at any time by disabling Location Data in your settings.

Use of data collected

If you choose to use the Ready2Go app your information is being collected to use for the following purposes:

  • To enable you to download the Ready2Go app
  • To allow you to travel on the Ready2Go transport service by using the app, including to book trips, amend trips, see your walk route to your bus stop, track your bus, track your estimated arrival time at your destination, and cancel trips.
  • To allow us to provide you with any relevant information related to Ready2Go service changes.
  • To allow us to answer any queries or investigate any issues you may have regarding the Ready2Go transport or app.
  • To allow us to monitor the performance of the Ready2Go service.

If you choose to book Ready2Go transport by phoning the Council’s office your information is being collected to use for the following purposes

  • To allow us to book, amend or cancel Ready2Go trips on your behalf.
  • To allow us to recommend transport options that match your stated preferences.
  • To allow us to contact you about your transport bookings.
  • To allow us to answer any queries or investigate any issues you may have regarding the Ready2Go transport.
  • To allow us to provide you with any relevant information related to Ready2Go service changes.

Your information is being collected by Aberdeenshire Council.

The Lawful Basis for collecting the information is the performance of a task carried out in the Public Interest under Section 63 (2) of the Transport Act, 1985, please see table above for the purposes for which we will use your data.

The Ready2Go drivers and operator will be provided with the information required to provide you with the transport you have booked and review the performance of the service. Moovit App Global Ltd is the supplier of the Council’s Ready2Go app and demand responsive transport (DRT) management system. They will process your data within their system to offer you the best transport options, to manage the operation of your transport and to monitor Ready2Go services.

Your information will be transferred to or stored in the following countries and the following safeguards are in place:

Data in the Moovit App Global Ltd’s system will be transferred to and stored on AWS servers in Ireland. Moovit may also transfer data to other parts of the European Economic Area with the agreement of the Council.

The retention period for the data is:

Your data will be stored for no longer than 12 months from your last use of Ready2Go.

Your legal rights

Please note that you have the following rights:

  • to withdraw consent at any time, where the Legal Basis specified above is Consent;
  • to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK regulator for data protection issues (after raising the issue with the Data Protection Officer first);
  • to request access to your personal data;
  • to object, where the legal basis specified above is: (i) Performance of a Public Task; or (ii) Legitimate Interests.
  • to data portability, where the legal basis specified above is: (i) Consent; or (ii) Performance of a Contract;
  • to request rectification or erasure of your personal data, as so far as the legislation permits.
