Building Standards - Coronavirus
We are taking steps to allow us to continue to deliver our services with as little disruption as possible. On this page you can find out about current arrangements for the following:
- eBuilding Standards portal and paper submissions
- Warrant process
- Building work inspections
- Warrant expiries
- Dangerous buildings
- Contact Building Standards team
To help minimise risk to our staff and the public, we put the following measures in place:
- We continue to carry out all work in association with the receipt, validation, processing, assessment and decision-making for Building Warrants
- Our local Building Standards offices will be closed to the public but you will still be able to contact the teams by phone or email
- Any meetings will be conducted by telephone or skype video call
- Communication will be through telephone, skype video call, email or formal letter
Due to the ongoing issues and the need for essential travel only, we are unable to accept paper applications/submissions. We are also unable to process cheque payments.
The national portals remain fully operational, our services are running as usual in terms of connecting to the portal on a regular basis. Please continue to make use of this method for submitting your new planning or building standards application and any additional documentation you are required to submit for any on-going application.
If you are a new, or existing, user to the portal, the Scottish Government support desk remains available, if required. Please note the temporary support arrangements noted on the eDevelopment website.
Where possible, please pay for your application via the portal when submitting your application. Alternatively, payments can be made by credit or debit card via telephone on 01467 534333. You will be advised when your application is awaiting payment.
If you have already submitted items in paper over the last few days, there will be a delay in processing them. Please contact 01467 53433 if you require any assistance or information.
We endeavour to provide a full warrant processing service during this period.
All site inspections have ceased. It is important that during this period if you are continuing to build that you keep alternative evidence like photos, certificates etc to demonstrate compliance with each stage in the CCNP. We can issue acceptance of temporary and completions certificates based on suitable alternative evidence.
If your Building Warrant is due to expire in the next few months, from 24th March 2020 onwards and the start notice has been submitted, we will automatically extend it by 9 months free of charge. There is no need to fill in any forms or pay any fee.
We shall continue to provide 24/7 emergency cover for dangerous buildings as usual.
