Non-Standard Details and Departures from Standards
The materials specified and standard details included in our standards documents are provided to ensure that all new roads for adoption are durable, maintainable and fit for purpose. These materials and details can be used effectively in innovative layouts as well as more traditional streetscapes.
Where a developer wishes to incorporate any construction detail other than those included in our standards, they should firstly apply for approval of a non-standard detail.
Similarly, any departure from the mandatory requirements of our standards will require to be approved before construction consent can be granted.
Applications shall be considered by the Council’s Roads Standards Group. This group meets every six to seven weeks throughout the year and the dates of forthcoming meetings are available here.
Applications should be made using the standard form and submitted by email to firstname.lastname@example.org. Any applications which are not received at least one full week before the date of the next meeting shall not be considered until the following meeting. Incomplete applications or applications with insufficient information shall not be considered.
