Aberdeenshire Schools Pipe Band

We have launched a new Aberdeenshire Schools Pipe Band. This new band is primarily for inexperienced young pipers and drummers. If you would like your child to join the band, there are some things you need to know:

Rehearsals are currently on hold due to COVID-19.

We hold weekly rehearsals at Turriff Primary School on Wednesday evenings from 6.30pm to 8.30pm during school term time.

You will need to provide your own transport to and from the rehearsals. We welcome parents to stay and wait.

You should attend rehearsals regularly and practise at home to improve your own ability and the band as a whole.

Who can join

We welcome pipers and drummers, who are not currently members of a competing pipe band, to come and try out for the Aberdeenshire School Pipe Band.

The band is suitable for school aged children who can play a tune on the pipes or a simple drum score on the snare or tenor drum. There is no minimum age.

How to join

If you are interested in joining please come along to one of our rehearsals.

You will need a chanter or set of bagpipes to join the pipers. However, you do not need to own a drum to join the drum corps as we can provide drums.

There is no charge for being part of the band or for the tuition we offer at rehearsals. The band will provide a uniform in the council tartan.

You can contact us for more information.

Risk assessment

We have undertaken a risk assessment and make every effort to minimise risk. When deciding to join we ask you to acknowledge that a degree of risk remains. We do not anticipate that any risks will exceed those incurred in normal day to day living.

Our standard insurance in respect of public liability applies throughout the duration of the activity. You should make your own arrangements if you require any personal accident, personal effects or equipment cover.
