Specifically, the safety boat should carry:

  • Tow line
  • First Aid Kit
  • Survival bag
  • Large knife
  • Compass
  • Whistle
  • Basic engine tools & spares
  • Fire extinguisher
  • Oars and rowlocks or paddles
  • Spare kill-cord
  • VHF Radio or flares
  • Spare or Alternative Engine
  • Bucket

Consideration should also be given to the selection of other items from the following list:

  • Pliers or shackle key
  • Spare buoyancy aid
  • Torch/batteries
  • Map or chart
  • Small stock of chandlery
  • Emergency food/hot drink

N.B When teaching sailing on shallow ponds, a powered safety boat may not be required.

Where powerboating is being used as an activity in it’s own right, advice should be sought from the Adventure Activities Consultant.
