Issues with our phones

Children’s Social Work services - Coronavirus

Whilst coronavirus (COVID-19) is having an impact on service delivery, Children’s Services Social Work is still here, and we continue to provide support to children and families in need across Aberdeenshire.

We are expecting a greater demand on many of our services over the coming weeks and months. We will do all we can to continue to support our communities, but there will be some changes to the services we deliver.

Whilst our offices are all currently closed to the public, you can contact us on 01467 537111 to speak to a social worker. Due to high demand, if you are diverted to an answer machine, please do leave a message and contact number. Our answer machines are checked regularly, and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

Children and families

Our local Children and Family teams are limiting direct/face to face contact to where it is deemed to be urgent or essential. However, our social workers continue to be available to offer telephone support. Whilst all our local office buildings are currently closed, the local area teams continue to be available for advice and support and can be contacted on 01467 537111.

Child protection

Child protection remains our priority. Child protection is everyone’s responsibility particularly during this time when children and young people are unseen.

If you are concerned or worried that a child or young person is at risk or being abused, please call:

  • 01467 537111 (Monday to Friday 9am – 5pm)
  • 03456 081206 (weekday evenings, weekends and bank holidays)
  • In an emergency, call 999 for police assistance

Self-directed Support

We continue to offer all 4 Self-directed Support options. Due to reduction in services, families can contact their allocated worker to discuss any additional support required during this time.

Adoption services

Our adoption teams are limiting direct/face to face contact to where it is deemed to be urgent or essential. However, our social workers continue to be available to offer telephone support to current families and adopters.

Fostering services

Our fostering teams are limiting direct/face to face contact to where it is deemed to be urgent or essential. However, our social workers continue to be available to offer telephone support to current families and carers.

Kinship services

Our kinship team is limiting direct/face to face contact to where it is deemed to be urgent or essential. However, our social workers continue to be available to offer telephone support to current families and carers. The kinship team can be contacted on 01467 538501.

Children’s rights service

Our Children’s Rights Officers are limiting direct/face to face contact to where it is deemed to be urgent or essential but continue to offer a service to our care experienced young people. The team can be contacted on free telephone 0800 917 8275.

Throughcare and aftercare service

The throughcare and aftercare service is limiting direct/face to face contact to where it is deemed to be urgent or essential but continue to be available to offer telephone support to care experienced young people by telephone. The team can be contacted on 01467 532727.

Children’s homes

Our children’s homes are still fully operational but closed to visitors. Alternative arrangements will be put in place to ensure that families can remain in regular contact.

Carers

Adult and children’s services continue to support carers through this time and respond to urgent needs. Quarriers support service continues to provide support for adult and child carers during this time.
