Anti-bullying strategy

As part of Aberdeenshire's commitment to the protection of adults at risk, a strategy has been developed on anti-bullying for adults with learning disabilities.

The need for such a document was identified in research carried out by Mencap, ENABLE and Values into Action.

This research highlighted the unacceptably high level of bullying that adults with learning disabilities endured on a regular basis. It also identified that raising awareness and having a strategy was an effective way to reduce bullying behaviour.

Aberdeenshire's anti-bullying strategy was developed by a multi-agency group. It gives advice and guidance to individuals working within the field of learning disabilities.

It contains seven recommendations on what steps to take to help prevent bullying behaviour and protect adults with learning disabilities.

Our next step will be implementing these recommendations through our day, respite and accommodation services and through joint working with our partners in the independent sector.
