Updated Balmedie Country Park Management Plan now available

The new and updated Balmedie Country Park Management Plan is now available to view.

The update comes on behalf of the Balmedie Country Park Group, which includes representatives from Aberdeenshire Council, Belhelvie Community Council, Belhelvie Community Trust and Balmedie Leisure Centre.

The group were able to secure funding from the Formartine Coastal Communities Fund to commission Tamsin Morris of Walking-the-Talk to lead a piece of work to deliver an updated management plan for the Country Park, as the previous plan had lapsed.

The group were keen to ensure that their efforts and resources were focussed on the most important aspirations for the Country Park, and this has been reflected in the set of priority actions highlighted in the plan.

Elaine Brown, Formartine Area Manager and Chair of the Balmedie Country Park Group said: “An allocation of funding from the Formartine Coastal Communities Fund has made it possible to commission the work involved with updating the management plan for Balmedie Country Park.

"The updated plan sets out aspirations to build on the good work already done, and to continue this by delivering on actions that will improve the offering at the Country Park to ensure it is welcoming and used appropriately by visitors.

"The efforts and resources of the Balmedie Country Park Group will be focussed on identifying ways on how best to deliver on the priority actions identified within the updated plan which relate to key themes including; biodiversity, visitor management and site management.

"We look forward to focussing on how best to deliver these actions collaboratively over the coming years.”

At their regular meetings throughout the year, the Balmedie Country Park Group will focus on the implementation of the actions included within the management plan to continue to make improvements to the Country Park.
