Repairs charged to you

We will normally meet the cost of repairs that are within our repair responsibilities. You are responsible for any damage that you, your family or visitors have caused.

We may recharge you for any repairs that are required as a result from misuse of, or damage to, the house caused by yourself, members of your household or your visitors. We will give you an estimate for carrying out the repairs.

Alternatively, you can make your own arrangements for repairs to be carried out, provided the work is completed to the required standard.

If you believe any damage to be caused by vandalism, you must report it to the police as soon as you discover it. Contact us, quoting the police incident number, as soon as possible. If both we and the police are satisfied that the damage was not caused by you, your family or visitors, then we will meet the cost of the repairs.

When your tenancy is due to end, we inspect the property and its state of repair. We will advise you, in writing, of any repairs required which are your responsibility. Some repair requirements may be obscured by your furniture and fittings. If the repair work arranged by you is not completed satisfactorily we may need to carry out remedial works. The cost of these repairs will be passed on to you.

If you feel that you are not responsible for the cost of repairs, you can write to your local Housing Manager or Have Your Say.
