Scottish Parliament election nominations now open in Aberdeenshire
Aberdeenshire Council has published a Notice of the Election for the upcoming Scottish Parliament election on Thursday, May 7.
Nominations can now be made for constituency members to serve in the Scottish Parliament for the constituencies of:
• Aberdeenshire East
• Aberdeenshire West
• Banffshire and Buchan Coast
Nomination papers can be found on the Aberdeenshire Council website at: https://www.aberdeenshire.gov.uk/council-and-democracy/elections/scottish-parliament-election-2026/
They can also be found on The Electoral Commission website at: https://electoralcommission.org.uk/guidance-candidates-and-agents-scottish-parliament-elections/
Papers can also be obtained by contacting the offices of the Returning Officer by calling 01467 539311 or by emailing elections@aberdeenshire.gov.uk
The deadline for nominations is 4pm on Wednesday, April 1. Nomination papers must be delivered to the Constituency Returning Officer at one of the following addresses (by appointment only):
• The Faithlie Centre, 1 Saltoun Square, Fraserburgh, AB43 9DA
• 1 Harlaw Road, Inverurie, AB51 4TE
• Woodhill House, Westburn Road, Aberdeen, AB16 5GB
Appointments are available between 10am and 4pm on weekdays and can be arranged by calling 01467 539311 or by emailing elections@aberdeenshire.gov.uk
Meanwhile, the deadline for registering to vote is midnight on Monday, April 20. More information can be found at https://www.gov.uk/register-to-vote
The deadline for applications, amendments to or cancellation of postal votes is 5pm on Tuesday, April 21, and for applications to vote by proxy is 5pm on Tuesday, April 28.
