Current work

The council's Evidence Report was approved by Full Council on 26th June 2025 and then submitted for Gate Check assessment by the DPEA. It is anticipated that that Gate Check will take approximately 3 to 4 months to complete.

The Call for Sites started on 16th July 2025, and ended on 31st October 2025. The Call for Ideas ended on 16th March 2026. The goal was to gather input to help create the next Aberdeenshire Local Development Plan.

Currently, officers are assessing submissions. Find out about the Call for Ideas and Sites to view where bids were made on a map.

How we are preparing this plan

This plan is prepared with the updated guidance on local development planning published by the Scottish Government to support reforms made in the Planning (Scotland) Act 2019.

Details of the plan preparation timetable, and the engagement happening between 2023 and 2025 is provided in the Development Plan Scheme.
