Find out about what LDPs and other development plans are.
Current work
The council's Evidence Report was approved by Full Council on 26th June 2025 and then submitted for Gate Check assessment by the DPEA. It is anticipated that that Gate Check will take approximately 3 to 4 months to complete.
Call for Ideas and Sites: current engagement
Prospective developers are invited to submit development proposals though Call for Sites.
Communities, stakeholders and partners can share their ideas through Call for Ideas.
A Call for Ideas and Sites was launched on 16th July 2025. The purpose of the Call for Ideas is to help inform preparation of the next Aberdeenshire Local Development Plan. The Call for Sites will close on 31st October 2025, with the broader Call for Ideas closing on 31st December 2025.
How we are preparing this plan
This plan is prepared with the updated guidance on local development planning published by the Scottish Government to support reforms made in the Planning (Scotland) Act 2019.
Details of the plan preparation timetable, and the engagement happening between 2023 and 2025 is provided in the Development Plan Scheme.
