Parentsportal.scot is a digital service to help replace the traditional school bag run by providing direct communication to parents and carers through a growing selection of online services.
As parentsportal.scot is securely linked to your myAberdeenshire account it also makes it a one-stop-shop for digital services already available in Aberdeenshire.
On this page you can find out more:
Access to parentsportal.scot is only for those parents or carers who have children in primary 1 to the final year of secondary and are already confirmed as a contact for that child. This is normally the person who already receives electronic information from a child(ren)’s school and completes the annual data check form.
If your child(ren) is about to start at an Aberdeenshire school or your child(ren) will be starting in primary 1 or secondary 1 from August, your school will inform you during their first term, when you can set up your account.
To start with, you will see basic information about your child(ren)’s school along with online services such as a link to paying for school meals and completing your child(ren)’s annual data check form electronically.
As we introduce new online services, you may find that some new online services either do not hold any information or do not appear to do anything. This is because we will be testing the online services before we activate it in your child’s school. Your school will keep you informed when new online services become available.
Parentsportal.scot is accessed via myAberdeenshire. If you don't already use myAberdeenshire, you will need to create an account and you can do that by registering for myaccount. Select 'Register', then 'Create a new account'.
Whether you are a new or existing myAberdeenshire user there are two things you will need to do to be able to access partentsportal.scot:
- consent to sharing your data with parentsportal.scot
- link your child's details to your account
If you already have a myAberdeenshire account and have moved home or have a new mobile number, remember to check your myAberdeenshire details are up to date before making a link child request. Also, make sure your myAberdeenshire account is in your own name and not your child’s.
In order to make a link to your child(ren), the information you provide during the link child process must exactly match the information your child’s school holds, for example:
- you need to be confirmed as a contact for your child
- your child needs to have started in the school and you must match the school year they are currently in, for example P1, S5
- you need to provide your child's proper name (not preferred one) when asked for their first name
After entering your child's details, the information will go through two more security checks:
- You will first be sent a security code. This security code will be sent to either a mobile phone number or email address that is already registered for you, within your child’s school system.
- Once you enter the correct security code, your link child request will then be sent to the school, for final approval.
Both these security checks need to be complete before you will gain access to your child’s record. If you have any problems linking your child’s details, please refer to parentsportal.scot guide on troubleshooting issues with linking (pdf 1.9MB) or contact your child’s school.
If you have more than one child, you can choose to 'link further children'. You will only need to link each account once.
Schools will be unable to approve link child requests when they are closed for weekends and for holidays. Schools will also be very busy at the start of each term, so it could take up to 5 working days before your request is approved. When your request is approved you will receive an email confirming you can sign into the parentsportal.scot and see your child's details from your account.
