Aberdeenshire Local Outdoor Access Forum (ALOAF) is looking for individuals to join as representatives.

Representatives serve for up to three years and may be eligible for re-election after their term ends.

Role of a representative

Representatives will:

  • Engage with others constructively to provide balanced advice and solutions
  • Consider the wider community perspective, not just their specific interest or local area
  • Communicate effectively between the community and the forum, making sure concerns and insights from both sides are shared
  • Commit time to ALOAF activities, including research, discussions, and occasional tasks outside of scheduled meetings
No specific qualifications are needed, but an active interest in outdoor access matters and a willingness to contribute to discussions is essential. The role is unpaid, but travel expenses will be reimbursed from the first meeting attended.

How to apply

If you are interested in applying to be an ALOAF representative, you need to submit a written or email application. The application should include a brief statement (no more than 150 words) explaining why you would be a suitable candidate for the role.

Applications should be sent by email to aloaf@aberdeenshire.gov.uk, or sent by post to:

Outdoor Access and Countryside Team
Unit 7 Harlaw Industrial Estate
Harlaw Way
Inverurie
AB51 4SG

What happens next

All applications will be acknowledged.

Shortlisted applicants may be invited to make a brief verbal statement in support of their application during an ALOAF meeting. If necessary, selection will be decided by a vote of existing ALOAF representatives. Attendance at the selection meeting is encouraged, but applicants unable to go to the meeting will still be considered.

Successful candidates will take on their representative role at the next routine ALOAF meeting.
