Local outdoor access forum logo

Aberdeenshire Local Outdoor Access Forum (ALOAF) meetings discuss key issues about outdoor access in Aberdeenshire. The meetings bring together stakeholders, including land managers, recreational users and community representatives, to collaborate on improving and maintaining public access to the countryside.

ALOAF discusses and advises on a wide range of topics, including:

  • Balancing outdoor access with land management and residential privacy
  • The application and operation of the Scottish Outdoor Access Code
  • Input into the Aberdeenshire Core Paths Plan development
  • Promoting responsible non-motorised access
  • Encouraging shared use of paths among different user groups, such as cyclists, walkers, and horse riders

There are 5 ALOAF meetings each year. They are generally held in Inverurie with an online option, with one being in person on site.

How to participate

Public participation is encouraged. Anyone interested in outdoor access issues can join the meetings.
