Request an EIA screening opinion

To check if your development needs an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), you can request a screening opinion from us. This is not mandatory but it can confirm if an EIA is needed.

You can skip this for Schedule 1 developments because they will always need an EIA. To find out what Schedule 1 developments are view types of projects that need an EIA.

To request a screening opinion from us you will need to provide the following, and send it our correspondence address:

• Site plan showing site location
• Completed EIA screening request form (PDF 139KB)

What happens next

When we receive your request you will get an acknowledgement email or letter with a reference number.

As part of our assessment we will go through the Environmental Impact Assessment screening checklist.

We will then contact you within 21 days to confirm if an EIA is needed or not.
