To help with traffic management we are swapping the entrance and exit around at the site, from 11th December 2024.

Please treat our staff with respect and courtesy. We have a zero tolerance policy, and abuse of our staff may result in a ban from a recycling centre.

Opening times

Our opening times change over Christmas and New Year. View festive period closures and opening times.

  • Monday to Thursday 9am to 4.30pm
  • Friday 9am to 4pm
  • Saturday and Sunday 9am to 4.30pm

Who needs to book

Commercial type vehicles and trailers have to book, and they have limits on number of visits. Other vehicle types don't need to book.

Pedestrian access

There is no pedestrian access, as pedestrians can't be safely separated from the vehicles.

Items accepted at the Peterhead centre:

  • batteries (household and car)
  • bikes
  • blue and orange bin recycling
  • bulky items
  • cooking oil
  • electrical appliances (anything with a plug or batteries)
  • engine oil
  • fluorescent tubes (including energy-saving light bulbs)
  • garden waste
  • gas cylinders
  • glass bottles and jars
  • plasterboard
  • polystyrene expanded (EPS) (please break up any large lengths of polystyrene before taking this to the household recycling centre)
  • rubble and ceramics
  • rigid plastic (laundry baskets, buckets, toys, plant pots, drainage pipes and hard hats)
  • scrap metal
  • soil and turf
  • textiles
  • vapes
  • wood (including treated)
  • non-recyclable waste
  • re-use charitable goods

Items for reuse

This household recycling centre also accepts certain pre-loved items so that they can be rehomed by a local charity. These include:

  • bicycles
  • electrical items with all parts and plug
  • footwear
  • furniture with a fire-retardant label
  • garden furniture and equipment
  • general household items (bric-a-brac)
  • sports equipment
  • toys
